We are pleased to announce that our own Kara Campuzano, Salem Convention Center's Director of Sales and Marketing, received the highly coveted Oregon Society of Association Management (OSAM) Allied Leader Award during the 2018 OSAM Annual Conference in Portland earlier this month! The annual conference is Oregon's premier event for meeting planners and the association professionals.'This came as a total surprise,' says Kara. 'With so many hardworking, dedicated members, this award means a great deal to me.' OSAM is an active organization for association professionals and a place for members to share their industry expertise and offers valuable resources to association members. The OSAM Allied Leader Award is presented annually to an individual member who has made significant contributions of time, resources, and/or expertise in order to improve and enhance the organization. Members of the OSAM board determined that Kara's dedication and exceptional involvement makes her more than deserving of this honor. 'Kara has played a vital role on the membership committee, the conference committee and have been a trusted resource for the OSAM Board of Directors in supplying ideas that benefit the entire membership,' says OSAM Board President Geoff Horning. 'In essence, her willingness to pull up her sleeves and do whatever is necessary is a shining example of how volunteerism can benefit an industry.' In addition to the Oregon Society of Association Management, Kara has been heavily involved with other events industry organizations like Meeting Professionals International where she currently serves as the Director of Monthly Education. Kara lends her event planning skills and expertise to benefit local community organizations like Salem Young Professionals, Downtown 365 and charitable organizations like Friends of Pimpollo and Liberty House in Salem, Oregon. Earlier this year, Kara shared powerful personal lessons she has learned as a mother to a son with type 1 Diabetes, a “spit-fire daughter” (her words), a wife to a veteran of the U.S. military during the Amazing You Conference in Salem, Oregon.
