The Salem Convention Center Has Been Awarded LEED-EB Silver Certification! If you've ever experienced an event at The Salem Convention Center, you know that our facility wasn't constructed for the short term. Our goal is to provide a beautiful gathering space with sustainable features that will serve the Salem, Oregon community for generations to come. To achieve this, our building was designed to conform to the standards of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. After an 18 month certification process, we're ecstatic to announce that The Salem Convention Center has been recognized for our dedication towards sustainability and has been awarded LEED-EB Silver Certification! The Silver Certification is one step higher than what we were awarded in 2010. There are currently only 15 buildings in the state of Oregon with LEED-EB Silver Certification (we are just one of two Salem buildings to receive this certification). The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the foremost program for buildings, homes, and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. LEED-EB Silver Certification recognizes existing buildings for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selections, and indoor environmental quality. Our facility was designed and constructed with the intent of conforming to the standards of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is changing the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated by developing the LEED system.
