Photo Courtesy of Travel Salem Next time you visit The Salem Convention Center, please take some time to admire the newest addition to our beautiful Sculpture Garden located in the courtyard! 'Entwined', an 11-foot tall stainless steel sculpture by Hood River artists C.J. Rench was installed in late June. The work was purchased by the Salem Convention Center with assistance from the Oregon Artist Series Foundation. As part of our commitment to support public art and Oregon artists in our community, we are thrilled to add this beautiful piece as a part of our permanent collection! The sculpture plaza in our courtyard was created in 2011 through the combined efforts of the Salem Convention Center, the Oregon Artist Series Foundation, and The City of Salem Public Art Commission. The purpose of this plaza is to make art more accessible to Salem's residents and visitors. The public art in our courtyard and on the walls throughout the Salem Convention Center is part of a carefully curated collection by The Oregon Artist Series. The collection introduces works by talented Oregon artists to tens of thousands of hotel guests, conference attendees, Salem residents and many others who might otherwise not be familiar with the art of our region. Some of the other pieces featured in this exhibit include “The Cube,” Bruce West “The Drummer” and “The Skull,” Robert Hess “The Unicyclist,” by Frederick Heidel “2001 B.C.,” Phil and Kristy St. Claire An untitled cast aluminum oval, Weltzin Blix “Vertebra: Time Wave Zero” plus indoor piece, Dave Haslett “Carousel Hero,” James Hansen “Self-Consciousness II,” JinMan Jo Indoor piece by Stephan Soihl 'Entwined' artist, C.J. Rench, has created pieces ranging from small table-top sculptures to approximately 27 large-scale public art installations in over 10 states.
