The New Year is a time for change and growth, so we are happy to announce that in January of 2013, we are officially changing our name to the Salem Convention Center. Why you ask? According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of 'Conference' is a meeting of two or more persons for discussing matters of common concern; whereas the definition of Convention is 'an assembly of persons met for a common purpose'. We have determined the latter is a more common occurrence here, and are therefore changing our name to reflect that. Since opening in 2005, the Salem Convention Center has evolved into the premier venue for meetings, social events, weddings, conferences and conventions in Oregon so we are looking forward to doing future business as the Salem Convention Center. Don't worry. We are still going to provide the same excellent facility, service and food our guests have come to expect over the years. There will be no change in management, staff, building, or dedication to leading the way with sustainable business practices. The only change that will come from this is a new look to our logo and a new identity in the meetings & events industry. Tell us what you think of the new name!
